We at Dr. Gurachar Nargund College of Pharmacy established our presence in educational institutions in the year 2015 under the management of Shushrutha Educational Trust, Bangalore. Developed with the intent of providing qualitative education in the field of Pharmacy, our college focuses on equipping students in the technicalities, sensibilities and nuances of the field Pharmacy. Moreover, we strive to impart a thorough understanding of the field by a curriculum structured to enhance students’ critical thinking abilities rendered through the expertise of our dynamic faculty team. We further, enrich the experience of being part of our institution with our conducive learning environment backed by state-of-the-art facilities, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities provided to foster qualitative education and practical exposure in Pharmacy. Our Vision at Dr. Gurachar Nargund College of Pharmacy is to transform our students into dynamic professionals who are proficient in the field of pharmacy by enhancing our educational prowess and research standards. Diploma in Pharmacy

With an academic training of two years comprising a minimum of 180 working days, entailing 6 hours of work every day, our course stands as the foundation to transform students into professionals. Moreover, each year mandates a practical training of not less than 500 hours covered in not less than 3 months at any Hospital / Dispensary approved by Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Pass in 10+2 /PUC/Equivalent in Science Stream (PCM/PCB)
  • Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as Equivalent to any of the above exams ensures that the student is eligible to avail a seat in our course.

Attendance Requirement

Each student must have an attendance of 80% separately in theory and practical’s of each subject.

Practical Training

After the completion of the “Diploma in Pharmacy”, candidates shall undergo Practical Training in an Institution, Hospital, and Pharmacy or Manufacturing house recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India. The Practical training period shall not be less than 500 hours spread over a period of not less than 3 months, provided that not less than 250 hours are devoted to the actual dispensing of prescriptions.

Board of Examinations

The Preliminary Diploma in Pharmacy Exam will be held at the end of the first year of the course. After successful completion of the 80% attendance, the student is admitted to the Examination. The final year of the Diploma in Pharmacy Course exam will be held at the end of second year. Admission to this annual Exam is subject to successful completion of 80% of attendance and successful completion of the first year qualifying exam.

In addition to the above conditions, admissions to either of the exam is subject to “Any other rules & regulations laid down by Board of Examining Authority Time to Time”. The Institution reserves the Right to cancel any candidate’s admissions to any of the Exams in case of defaulting candidate.

Examinations

A student shall not be declared to have passed the above exams unless he/ she secures minimum percentage in each of the subject separately in the theory & practical’s component of the course. Candidates securing 60% & 75% or above in any subject or subject shall be declared to have obtained First Class, Distinction, respectively (provided the student passes in all the subjects in the same examination).

Bachelor in Pharmacy (B. Pharm)

The duration of the course extends for a period of four academic years.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should have passed 10+2 / ‘A’ Level or its equivalent from any Board or Council with 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology / Zoology / Computer Science.

 

Attendance Requirement

A candidate is required to put in at least 80% attendance in Theory and Practical subjects individually to be eligible to appear for the respective final examinations.

Assessment System

The Annual Examination is conducted over a total of 70 marks each in the Theory & Practical sections. Candidates who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Theory (including sessional) and Practical (including sessional) separately in any subject shall be deemed to have passed in that respective subject. Please note that every candidate shall have to undertake practical training in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing House / Approved Hospital / CSIR research lab for a period of not less than one hundred and fifty hours after the completion of the final academic year of the B.Pharm course.

Internal Assessment

The internal assessment consists of three sessional examinations evenly spread during the academic year. The average marks of the best two examinations shall be considered for the evaluation of the final percentage.

Practical

Students are expected to perform the experiments listed in the respective syllabus. Each practical exercise is awarded 10 marks each. A final average shall be computed on an overall score of 10 marks. The three practical sessional examinations are evenly spread during each academic year. The average marks of the best two practical examinations shall be computed on an overall score of 20 marks. The final sessional award is evaluated on a cumulative score of 30 marks.

To become proficient in the field of Pharmacy, we offer an effective understanding in English through 4 months of Spoken English & Advanced English Classes.

Our Computer Center is connected with the “Helinet” consortium to acquire the latest research & information in Pharmaceutical Science. We also, regularly offer “Basic Computer” education with internet facilities to all students.

  • Medical Care

Medical facilities for our students are taken care by our faculty members. The Medical Care is offered at nominal charges.

  • Library

We have a well-organized library with the latest reference books, CD’s Textbooks, National & International Pharmaceutical Journals, Periodicals, Magazines, Daily News Papers, Pharmacy & Medical Bulletins under the efficient management of qualified librarians. ​

  • Lecturer Hall & Effective Teaching

We have well-furnished & spacious lecture halls with the latest teaching aids, and audio-visual equipment to delve into a comprehensive explanation designed by our eminent faculty members for D. Pharm Students.

  • Laboratories & Practical Skills

All our laboratories are fully equipped with modern & sophisticated equipment, adequate glassware’s, gas connections and well-maintained state-of-the-art facilities with the efficient assistance of lab technicians & attenders.

  • Machine Room

As per the specifications of The Pharmacy Council of India, all the instruments & equipments pertaining to the manufacturer of drugs & others are provided in the Machine Room with a brief explanation of the ‘Standard Operating Procedure’ (for every Instrument/Machine).
