About Us

The Nargund College of Pharmacy envisions and works towards establishing a nurturing, conducive environment for students to transform into Pharmacists. As Pharmacists are responsible for the production, development, and quality control of pharmaceutical products and solutions, we are guided by the Pharmacy Council of India to equip our students with the knowledge to pursue and master this field as professionals who will nourish the industry and uplift individuals across the globe. Furthermore, with the intent to not merely stick to theoretical knowledge, our students are actively engaged through a holistic pedagogical approach with co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Our co-curricular activities range from guest lectures to industry expo’s; the lectures are graced by the presence of experienced guest faculty members hailing from well-known business organizations from different sectors to address students on the current trends and the expectations of the industry. Opportunities such as, conferences, seminars and industrial expo’s are setup to impart practical knowledge on working in a corporate setup; thus, ensuring that students are well-versed in the variants of fields available within Pharmacy. Further, occasional educational visits complemented with International exposure through foreign educational tours puts across a sense of the industry, demands and scopes of improvement for our students to work upon. We also, encourage our students to participate in extracurricular activities such as college fests, business clubs, market research, seminars, sports and other events. These experiences morphed with our state-of-the-art technology and eminent faculty members enriches and reinforces our students classroom learnings to amp their confidence in the field for their future career prospects. Through our diverse yet intense curriculum, students can choose to work within the pharmaceutical industry, government departments, universities, teaching hospitals, investigation and research institutes, amongst many more job profiles.

Nargund College of Pharmacy (NCP) is embodied with the motive to improve the abilities and sensibilities of students to enhance their calibre to work in a dynamic work environment of the field of Pharmacy with ease and mastery.

We at NCP strive to uplift our students to abide by the standards of the Pharmacy Council of India and also, transcend to create radical shifts in the healthcare industry. Our students’ skill sets, critical thinking abilities and personalities are thus, nuanced to provide impeccable service for patients, surgeons and doctors globally.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy is a profession that entails the preparation and the dispensing of drugs and medicine for the treatment of ailments. The Pharmaceutical Industry in India is booming and offers opportunities for tremendous professional growth. Pharmacists work in cohesion with medical practitioners, dentists and veterinarians to compose and disperse medication. Moreover, by shaping and molding the processes that guide production, development and quality control of drugs, Pharmacists render necessary information to Physicians for effective patient treatment. Further, the profession enables one to set up independent practices after registering with the State Pharmacy Council of India. Our graduates have a wide array of career avenues open to them across private and public sectors in universities, research institutes, and hospitals.

Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm)

The duration of the course is for two academic years. Each academic year consists of not less than one hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours of practical training for 3 months or more, as may be prescribed by the curriculum.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate should have passed in any of the following examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects in:
• Intermediate Examination in Science.
• 10+2 examination (academic stream) in Science.
• Pre-Degree examination or any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India or the equivalent of any of the above examinations.

Attendance Requirement

A candidate is required to put in at least 80% attendance in Theory and Practical subjects individually to be eligible to appear for the respective final examinations.

Bachelor in Pharmacy (B. Pharm)

The duration of the course extends for a period of four academic years.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should have passed 10+2 / ‘A’ Level or its equivalent from any Board or Council with 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology / Zoology / Computer Science.

Assessment System

The Annual Examination is conducted over a total of 70 marks each in the Theory & Practical sections. Candidates who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Theory (including sessional) and Practical (including sessional) separately in any subject shall be deemed to have passed in that respective subject. Please note that every candidate shall have to undertake practical training in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing House / Approved Hospital / CSIR research lab for a period of not less than one hundred and fifty hours after the completion of the final academic year of the B.Pharm course.

Internal Assessment

The internal assessment consists of three sessional examinations evenly spread during the academic year. The average marks of the best two examinations shall be considered for the evaluation of the final percentage.

Practical

Students are expected to perform the experiments listed in the respective syllabus. Each practical exercise is awarded 10 marks each. A final average shall be computed on an overall score of 10 marks. The three practical sessional examinations are evenly spread during each academic year. The average marks of the best two practical examinations shall be computed on an overall score of 20 marks. The final sessional award is evaluated on a cumulative score of 30 marks.

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D)

The Doctor of Pharmacy programme is 6 years in duration (5 years of study & 1 year of internship or residency).

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should have passed 10+2 / ‘A’ Level or its equivalent from any Board or Council with 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology / Zoology / Computer Science.

Commencement of session : August

Duration: Two years.

The course is divided into four semester of 6 months each. First and second semesters deal with course work and semesters three &four deal with project work.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate should have passed B.Pharm degree examination of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences or B.Pharm degree from any other University recognised by PCI with 50% of marks. 

Schedule of Exams

Two sessional examinations is conducted for 30 marks in both theory and practicals. University Examination: Examination will be conducted for first and second semesters at the end respective semester. Project work (dissertation work) should be submitted as a part of third and fourth semesters for which viva voce on dissertation work is conducted at the end of the IV semester .

Attendance Requirement

A minimum of 80% in both theory and practical (regular) class is essential to be eligible for sessional as well as annual exams.
